We can only refill medications that were prescribed to the patient by Dr. Staerz. Some medications used to treat chronic conditions (eg Asthma, ADHD, depression, etc). may require an office visit if we haven't seen the in more than 3 months.
By law, a medical provider must hold a valid license in the state where the patient is physically located to legally write a prescription for them.
Prescribing narcotics or other controlled drugs requires both a state license and an active federal DEA registration that covers the state where the patient resides.
College Students: The practice of medicine happens where the patient is located. If a student goes to an out-of-state college, a home-state doctor who is only licensed in the home state typically cannot continue prescribing new medications for them while they are away.
Some states allow an out-of-state provider to supply a short-term bridge prescription or continue care for an established patient temporarily (such as a student moving away for the school year), but this varies widely by state law.
At this time, Dr. Staerz is not taking on new patients except for siblings of current patients in good standing.
